Well I made it! I’ve arrived in Brooklyn, New York…my new home! Things are a bit hectic, exciting, and of course…delicious! Do not fret my followers, I will be back to post in full detail my first thoughts and restaurant visits thus far (1 hit and 1 semi-miss). But I thought it only fair to me to give you a taste with the one thing I can always find whenever I travel…Ice cream!
I first visited Ample Hill Creamery when I came with my husband to scope out potential neighbourhoods and this ice cream place blew my mind! All of their ice creams are homemade with the most delicious ingredients and very interesting flavours. I think last time I was there I tried no fewer than 5 flavours before making my decision…peanut butter ice cream with chunks of homemade peanut butter cookies. On this visit, I was in the mood for a vanilla base. I asked the very friendly server for his recommendation and with no hesitation he said “malted vanilla.”
And let me tell you, this is now my favourite as well. Creamy vanilla ice cream with a malty background, loaded with malt balls. Oh my lord this was good! PLEASE check out their website…I have been dying to try their salted crack ice cream but both visits they were sold out!
I will return with detailed restaurant reviews once I’ve settled in and unpacked…and I’ll hopefully feel like a new yorker!
